My latest handpan recording

My latest handpan recording

There are instruments that create a special atmosphere with just a few notes – the handpan is definitely one of them for me.

I recently latest recording with the handpan I've become quite familiar with the harpsichord, an instrument that never ceases to fascinate me. Its warm, ethereal sound opens up spaces for tranquility, inspiration, and depth – a completely different way of making music than playing the drums or in large ensembles.

For me, the handpan is a wonderful way to discover the meditative side of music while simultaneously exploring new creative avenues. With every strike, small soundscapes emerge that touch the listener directly and take them on a journey.

I am very happy to share this recording with you and am excited to see where this instrument will take me.

New position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich

New position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich

There are moments in a musician's life that make you especially proud and grateful. For me, autumn 2019 was exactly such a time.

Since then, I have been able to take on a new and exciting task: At the University of Music and Theatre in Munich I am a lecturer for Percussion in the field of elementary music education and teacher training. This work means not only passing on my knowledge and experience, but also constantly learning new things myself.

Exchanging ideas with students is inspiring and motivating – every encounter opens up new perspectives. Especially in the field of elementary music education, I find it fascinating to see how rhythm and sound can playfully connect people.

I am very pleased to be part of this prestigious university and to be able to contribute to ensuring that the next generation of musicians finds their own path – full of curiosity, creativity and joy in music.

Looking forward to the Elbphilharmonie

Looking forward to the Elbphilharmonie

Some concerts already carry a very special tension in their preparation – that's exactly how I'm experiencing this week.

This coming Friday is a real highlight for me: the sold-out concert with the Li Biao Percussion Group at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. The mere thought of performing in this extraordinary venue fills me with great anticipation.

It is particularly significant for me that my composition "Seven Seas" will celebrate its European premiere this evening. After performances in South America and Asia, the work will now be heard here for the first time – a moment that represents an important milestone for me personally.

The combination of international collaboration, such a renowned concert hall, and the presentation of my own music makes this event unique for me. I look forward to sharing this special experience with the audience in Hamburg.
